On 1st – 2d December was held in Moscow International Law Congress “Law and Modernization: experience, prospects and trends”. The congress was organized by Russian agency of legal and judicial information (RALJI) in conjunction with RIA Novosti, Association of Russian lawyers was the general strategic partner and Association of graduates of international program – fellowships Ford Foundation.
The congress was attended by representatives of the judiciary, Russian government, the legal profession, Russian and foreign law firms, human rights activists, economists, scientists, business associations, specialized media journalists.
During the 1st day of Congress, participants discussed the draft of state program “Justice, measures and implementation of state policy in the field of legal education and prospects for development programs, free legal support, the role of media in educating the legal justice of citizens, the prospects of information lawsuits”.
The session “Corporate Law” was attracted particular interest, which was moderated by Chairman of Supreme Court Anton Ivanov. During the session experts discussed the new draft of Civil Code.
Olga Romanova attended the round table “Legal business in the regions” and told about the specifics of legal service’s market in Central Black Earth Region, development strategy of Law group “Ratum”. Also, in discussing problem of legal business in the regions, took part strategic partners of “Ratum” – managing partner of law firm “Kachkin and partners” – Denis Kachkin, managing partner of law firm “UG” – Yuri Pustovit, managing partner of law firm "Land" - Irina Grebneva, managing partner "First Legal Network"- Pavel Kurlat.
The major aim which organizers of Congress set by is create a platform to build full-fledged dialogue between all participants of legal relations: lawyers, economists, academics and business representatives at least has been achieved.
